A snowblower’s gas small engine usually operates, turns on and off, by pulling out or turning a red key, a run/stop switch, or moving the throttle from RUN to the STOP position. The engine powers the snowblowers drive to the transmission or a friction plate and friction disc, with a traction belt; and an auger belt that drives rotation of the 1st stage augers, moving the snow from the front of the snowblower to the rear, and spinning the 2nd stage impeller, blowing the snow up and out of the chute. Augers and Drive are engaged with handle levers, and move speed is controlled with a shifting mechanism, with cable linkage. The cables, drive/traction belt, and auger belt are serviceable parts that require replacement every few years. Have spare shear pins, on hand, in case you shear one, when clearing snow.

If the drive or auger engagement lever is limp and moves freely then, most likely, the cable failed and requires replacement.

If all the augers stop moving, most likely, the auger belt requires replacement. If one of the augers stop moving, you hit something, like unleveled surfaces, curbing, and/or decorative stone, most likely, a shear pin is sheared and requires replacement.
